When you’re pregnant, it’s natural to start accumulating things for your baby. But what do you really need to care for a new-born? Here’s a list of your new-born must haves to help you get started.
1. A good pregnancy pillow: This is a must have for any expecting mom. A good pregnancy pillow will help you get comfortable and sleep through the night.
2. Maternity clothes: You will want to invest in some good quality maternity clothes that will last you throughout your pregnancy.
3. Bottles: You’ll need these if you’re bottle-feeding or if you plan to pump and store breast milk.
4. A belly band: A belly band is a great way to support your growing belly and can help with back pain.
5. A nursing bra: If you plan on breastfeeding, a nursing bra is a must have. Nursing bras are designed to be comfortable and provide support for your breasts.
6. Breast pads: Breast pads are another essential for breastfeeding moms. They will help absorb any leaks and keep your clothes dry.
7. A pump: If you are planning on pumping breast milk, you will need a good quality pump.
8. A diaper bag: You will need a diaper bag to carry all of your baby’s things with you when you are on the go.
9. Baby clothes: Of course, you will need clothes for your baby! Make sure to stock up on onesies, socks, and hats. Newborns need several changes of clothes per day, so stock up on onesies, sleepers, and outfits. You’ll also need a few receiving blankets, which come in handy for swaddling, burping, and covering the car seat.
10. A car seat: A car seat is an absolute must have for any parent. You will need a car seat to safely transport your child in the car.
11. A stroller: A stroller is also a must have for any parent. A stroller will allow you to take your child with you on walks and outings.
12. A highchair: If you plan on feeding your baby solid foods, you will need a highchair.
13. Baby toys: You will want to have some baby toys on hand to keep your little one entertained.
14. A baby carrier: A baby carrier is a great way to keep your baby close to you while you are on the go.
15. A baby monitor: A baby monitor is a must have for any parent. A baby monitor will allow you to hear your child while you are in another room.
16. To clean your baby, you’ll need a few supplies. A baby bathtub, hooded towel, mild baby soap, and a soft washcloth are all you need to get started. You’ll also need diapers, diaper rash cream, and wipes.
17. You’ll need a safe place for your baby to sleep. A crib or bassinet is ideal. Make sure the sleeping surface is covered with a tight-fitting sheet.
Don’t forget the diapers, diaper rash cream, and wipes!
This is just a basic list of things you’ll need for your baby’s first year. Of course, every family is different and you may find that you need other things as well. But this should give you a good starting point
